You don’t have to believe in God in order to meditate. I get that’s a roadblock for people. They think it’s a religious thing. But it’s not. You can believe in anything you want, or nothing at all. People have different beliefs, and that’s fine.
I meditate because it gives me headspace. (That’s the app I use, by the way.) And I may have mentioned about a thousand times how I grew up something of a neurotic mess. I was just the teensiest bit anxious as a child. I’m still anxious as an adult. Only now I don’t let it affect me to the point of being totally afraid of everything. I have gained control where before I had no control at all.
That’s what meditation has given me: Freedom.
You should meditate because it can do for you what it has done for me. Alleviate stress and anxiety, and get you to see the world as this fresh and wonderful and inspiring place. You’ll pay attention to things you’d otherwise, normally ignore, like bumblebees. And you’ll think they’re nice.
Download Headspace. Commit to five minutes a day, for one month.
You’ll be glad you did.
