While fitness and nutrition have come a long way, there really are some misconceptions about exercise (in this case weight-lifting). I still laugh when I hear people say they don’t want to lift weights because they don’t want to look like a muscleman. You can do many things with weight-lifting whether it’s strength-building, bulking up, toning yourself, or just general health. I recall one work-out method where you can get a cardio work-out from weight-lifting. It worked and while I did cardio training by itself, it shows how versatile weight-lifting can be. Just as much, you don’t have to lift weights to increase strength or bulk. When I was in Con College I saw guys with tremendous strength and physiques who had no access to weights. They used calisthenics and did just fine using body weight.

I am glad to see someone setting the facts straight! When I first started lifting weights, I had the idea that it would automatically lead to muscle gain. I was missing out on a lot of important information, especially in areas I didn’t know I should research. Diet and other lifestyle changes can be just as important in setting you down the right path. This podcast was a great listen. Thanks for sharing!

As usual, I’m loving the points you give out on your podcasts. I believe you were always a natural at the things you practice and you’ve just gotten better through the years because of your passion for such. I’ve totally gained a lot more insight on lifting weights and the whole general path regarding it. Ha ha ha, though I need to point out that there really are soooo many people still stuck with the notion that merely lifting weights will get you big muscles!
