Beer is a bubbly, fermented drink and very good tasting. People want to know if they can drink beer and be healthy still, or if beer is something they have to give up. Beer isn’t something you have to give up. Let me teach you about it.
Beer is made of four ingredients: Barley, hops, yeast, and water. Brewers make wort but yeast makes beer, that is what I was told on a tour of Lakefront Brewery. I have been on many beer tours because I am interested in these sort of things.
Beer that is made well is like a glass of bread. There are calories in it and also gluten. So not great, probably, for someone who is cutting down, but not terrible either. You can drink beer and still lose weight, it is possible.
I have two rules for drinking. The first is to not drink if have work to do. Beer is for after work only. If you have beer you will not get work done and you will not workout either. You will laze on the couch like I do. So drink only when there is nothing going on, really.
The second rule is to drink but not get drunk. College people get drunk and that is not how someone who knows anything drinks beer. If you are drinking to get drunk you have problems in your life that need to be taken care of. Also, you are having too many calories, if you drink like that.
When having beer you want to watch your calories. Light beer is dark beer. What people think is light beer (by color) is higher sugar and more alcohol, unless you are having Miller Lite, but what in God’s name is the point of that? What you want is a mild beer.
Dark beer is also richer in b-vitamins, which is good. Really you can have whatever in the heck you want just don’t have all of it. One to two drinks a day, three or four days a week, is enough. If you need more than that you have a problem (like I said) and should be enrolled in some kind of support group.
Don’t drink too late at night it will mess with your sleep. Drink earlier in the day and get it out of your system before going to bed. What else? I guess don’t mix too many carbs with your beer, either. Fast beforehand and workout too if you’re going to drink. This will increase the fun of it so you won’t need as much.

Solid. Sweet and to the point.
Cheers (IPA)
I think most things are ok in moderation, beer included! I didn’t realise that dark beer is high in vitamin b. My boyfriend will be happy to hear this. He turned vegetarian last year, and his vitamin b levels have really dropped, and he’s been struggling trying to restore these levels.
Good rule of thumb; 1-2/day and 3-4 days/weeks. I’ve read (not the full research articles, granted) that moderate alcohol consumption can have health benefits as well. Also, the research no deleterious effects on BMI (which isn’t the greatest measure to go by but it’s something). And, as always, calories in vs. calories out applies.
“At 4.2 percent ABV and 125 calories per 12-ounce serving, Guinness Draught is, in fact, in the same nutritional league as Bud Light, which clocks in at 4.2 percent ABV and 110 calories. Remember this fact the next time someone claims that dark beer is too heavy.” #BOOM
Yes, Joseph! ^And you get to drink beer! Like, real beer!
