The human machine. I’ve always liked that term and I think the only problem with it is people associating people with emotionless robots. Sometimes I think society is trying to steer people in one of two directions—emotionless robots who don’t care about others (totalitarian governments like China) or overly emotional persons who can be manipulated by appealing to touchy feely sentiments bereft of critical thinking (so-called democracies that are trying to consolidate power by telling people what to say and not say as not to offend people). Yes, this is a bit off-topic but the human machine term got me going. Thanks for sharing C.S. Lewis’ practical advice.

I think I’m going to break down and get a couple C.S. Lewis books for my summer reading. He’s an excellent writer and theologian. Thanks for reminding me how good his work is, Pat.
